Fractional real estate sales gaining strength in Aspen

Sales of fractional real estate in the upmarket US ski resort of Aspen are growing stronger despite a 13.7 per cent drop in whole ownership sales in the area.

Sales figures for the Pitkin County area in March, provided by Land Title Guarantee Company, show 17 fractional transactions for the month (up 21 per cent from March 2010) with a combined value of $4.6 million (up 74 per cent).

The Ritz-Carlton at Highlands recorded six sales; followed by Hyatt Grand Aspen (three); Innsbruck, Residences at Snowmass Club and Timbers Resorts (all with two), while the Prospector and Residences at Little Nell both reported one sale.

For the first three months of the year, fractional sales have totalled $19,119,554, up three per cent from the same time period in 2010. Transactions for the first quarter totalled 71, up a huge 92 per cent.
