"My view on fractional ownership: a growth business. The upper middle class has hunger for a taste of the most affluent life. They detest low asset utilization - fractional is fun."
Michael J. Silverstein , The Boston Consulting Group
"Fractional ownership is quickly becoming a mainstream way of living and is emerging as one of this decade’s major paradigms in consumer behavior."
Daniel Nissanoff, author Futureshop.
Fractional Ownership News
Fractional wine ownership hits Manhattan
According to the press release, this Autumn sees New York wine lovers enjoying the art of winemaking in their own backyard — literally — with the opening of City Winery (143 Varick Street) in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. City Winery will be New York’s first postmodern winery and event space. The two-story, 35,986-square-foot office building was built in 1910 and renovated in 1983. It is located in the Hudson Square submarket and is owned by TrinityChurch.
Thanks to founder and CEO, Michael Dorf, oenophiles can now stomp, ferment and bottle their own barrels of Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay in the heart of New York City.
The 21,500-square-foot space blends a wine bar and event space with a fully operational winery that will house 300 barrels; 200 barrels are allocated for full or fractional ownership. City Winery will import grapes from noted wine regions in California, Oregon, Washington State, New York, Chile and Argentina, enabling barrel owners and visitors to participate in the full winemaking experience: crushing, pressing, fermenting, barrel tasting, bottling and labeling. Guidance will come from City Winery’s Master Winemaker David Lecomte, who hails from France’s RhoneValley and was previously a winemaker at Herzog Wine Cellars in California.
