The finest fractionals honoured at Fractional Summit 2010
The global fractional property industry gathered in London last week to see the winners of the second annual Fractional Life Awards receive their prizes.
The awards were judged by a panel of industry professionals and property journalists, and were presented at the culmination of Fractional Summit 2010 – two days of stimulating debate about this exciting sector of the second homes market.
The 2010 Fractional Life award for Innovation and Excellence was won by Pestana Golf in Portugal, which was described by one judge as “one of the most straightforward, honest and transparent schemes I have come across. I liked the property and think it is good value for money. There aren’t crazy mark-ups on the freehold element. Contracts are straightforward and easy-to-understand”.
The Fractional Life Readers' Choice Award was won by yooPhuket, a fractional apartment scheme on the Thai island of Phuket. This award is voted for by readers of FractionalLife.com, and yooPhuket polled an impressive 60 per cent of all votes cast to take the prize.
And new for 2010 was a third category – the Fractional Life Services to the Industry Award. The inaugural winner was fractional exchange programme The Registry Collection. The winning company was described as “a slick, smart and a savvy way to help both developers and fractional owners. The marketing is good and attention to detail strong. Equally, the product offered is high-end and lifts the profile of fractional luxury in the marketplace worldwide”.
Piers Brown, founder of Fractional Life said: “The Fractional Life Awards are designed to reward best practice in the fractional ownership real estate Industry. This year's winners clearly raised the standard demonstrating exceptional fractional products and service in the market. I'm delighted for them all.”
The judges for the awards were:
Philip Bacon, managing director of HVS Madrid and managing director EMEA & Asia, HVS Shared Ownership Services - a specialist division of HVS Global Hospitality Services.
Piers Brown, founder, Fractional Life
Eric Gummers, partner at Howard Kennedy. Eric is recognised for his specialised work in the hotel and leisure sector, particularly membership clubs, loyalty programmes, fractional, shared ownership and condo-hotels.
